Small bears are one of the quintessential pieces of Inuit art.
People are drawn to “small” objects, perhaps as a subconscious return to the innocence of childhood.
Small bears, in particular, are enchanting. I never have enough of them on hand for my clients.
Their spirit is all encompassing. Such a small being provides so much joie de vivre.
Two winning features of this sublime sculpture are the colour of the stone and the posture of the bear.
The green colour of the stone is so soft, comforting and gorgeous.
The bear's stance is stunning. I am particularly attracted to bears' whose necks are extended backward so that the bear is looking directly upward to the heavens.
There is a serenity that comes from this posture as if the bear is in a position of prayer.
I believe the small bear is the most popular carving to give as a gift.
Because of their extreme affordability, they are often purchased in multiples.
What could be more joyous than two small bears dancing together?!
