At the gallery, we concede this carving to be a museum-caliber piece. We boldly assert this sculpture as being one of Killiktee’s very best works.

This bird is perfect; from the intense deep dark stone to the startled flapping motion of the wings.  The inlaid eyes are wide and piercing. The observer can’t be sure whether this noble bird has just landed or is it alarmed and preparing to take flight.

This dignified sculpture is quite large.  It would be a masterwork in any environment, from a lakeside home to a business conference room.
