Paul Kavik is one of the most renowned and established Inuit artists alive today in Sanikiluaq. He has been carving for almost 40 years and has been represented in countless art exhibitions around the world. His pieces are very sought after by art galleries on a global scale. Paul Kavik is a very dynamic carver in that he will carve just about anything. He prefers to carve animals such as dogs, wolves, fox, loons, ducks and polar bears. All of his carvings are real masterpieces and are valued very high.

This graceful bear is one of the nicest dancing bears I have ever seen. The arms and hands have a fluid flow to them that give it an unparalleled grace like never seen before in a carving. It has a beautiful refined finish to it. The argillite stone has a beautiful dark smooth texture consisting of beautiful wavy grains sweeping against the stone. The proportions are superbly done and the subject is very harmonistic in nature. This carving resonates joy and happiness as well as a pinch of sophistication.
