Pootoogook is a well respected Cape Dorset artist for whom I have lots of respect.
I am always looking for his bears. I never tire of his approach to his Dancing bears. His sculptures often appear to be having the time of their lives.
I am attracted to these bears because they are emotionally an open book. They invite us to lay back and share in their glee. We are intrigued by their simple message “life is good”!
This sassy green creature has spectacular sharp claws which is not a common feature for Mosesee’s bears.
This bear’s arms are long and his legs are short. Despite his potentially dangerous claws, he is comical.
In fact, he looks like he could be doing aerobics, pushing his arms above his head while dancing to music.
This carving is perfect. It has been perfectly rendered and it is the perfect gift!
