** Paul Bruneau SIGNATURE Inukshuk carving
Note** Paul Bruneau is an Ojibway native and a member of the Mattagami First Nations Reserve. During the first two years of Covid, Paul took a break from carving. He is back and carving what I believe are the most fascinating Inukshuks in the world.
Masterpiece Carving! Glorious Colour!
From the moment that Paul first introduced me to his Inukshuks, I saw them as beings from another world. Quite literally.
Sometimes, they appear to be slowly plodding across the earth's surface as if they are here for the first time.
For me, I believe it is the Inukshuk's thick exaggerated legs held in a tripod position that makes me think of them as part of an alien (but benevolent) army.
However you interpret these magnificent pieces, do you agree that Paul uses the most eye-popping colours?
And Bruneau polishes the stone to a mirror finish so smooth and bright that it seems to be perpetually gleaming like the sun.
Tin Man clinks and clacks across the tundra, welcoming the lonely traveller and providing sustenance to the hungry and lost.
Paul has an instinct for choosing and combining the exact colours and textures for his Inukshuks.
Take a long look at Harvest.. Are you starting to understand why I think Paul's Inukshuks are the most magnificent in the world?
I have never seen Inuit Inukshuks as cosmopolitan and modern as these.
